Title: Historical Reality And Subjective Truth In Michel Tremblay’s The Real World?
Presenters:
Richard Rose, artistic director, Tarragon Theatre
Mavis Himes, psychoanalyst, Speaking of Lacan Psychoanalytic Group
What is the relationship between historical reality and subjective truth? In autobigraphical writing, can we say to whom the story belongs and whose truth is being witnessed? From what place does the playwright write and does the analyst speak? How is reality constructed and staged in the theatre and in the unconscious? Using the play The Real World? as a backdrop, Richard Rose and Mavis Himes will address these and other questions from the perspective of each of their disciplines.
